In the Summer Time
Summer is edging ever closer and if you have a garden you might be considering some ways to preen and prune your outdoor living space to make it feel more homely. Creating a magical garden space requires a careful balance of bringing the indoors outdoors to ensure you and your guests can enjoy some home comforts while relaxing in the English summer
Waterproof cushions are a must to ensure your outdoor furniture is comfortable. Nobody wants to be relaxing in the garden with a Pimm’s and a numb bum! So invest in some good quality outdoor cushions that will last past the summer. The range in store at Something Different are bold, bright and colourful. They can be easily removed and taken on the road for camping and picnics too.
Ornaments aren’t just for the mantelpiece and you can add a touch of art to your garden with tasteful garden ornaments. For a magical display some of these unusual garden ornaments hidden among the flowers will be sure to catch the eye and strike up a conversation.
The Mariska Meijers trays are the perfect assistant. Placed conveniently next to your comfortable seating arrangement the larger trays can carry more than you’ll need and can be placed atop a garden table or using their own legs can become a table themselves. The fun patterns and colours are extremely popular and blend beautifully with summer floral blooms.
As the summer evening draws in and darkens you and your guest’s needn’t hide away indoors. It’s incredible how much light (and even heat) a lantern can provide. They come in a variety of shapes sizes but our favourite from the new collection is this large multiple candle lantern which gives plenty of light on a dark but warm summer evening.
Our signature summer cocktail in the Something Different household is a simple yet summery Pimms Royale. It’s so easy and so delicious! Chill champagne flutes in the fridge before pouring approx. 100ml of Pimm’s into the glass and topping with Prosecco. Add a sliced strawberry or cucumber to the glass for garnish. Gorgeous with some crudités and dip. For homemade hummus blend chickpeas, 1 lemon (zest and juice), 1 lime (zest and juice), garlic, salt, pepper, paprika and tahini paste, then slowly pour in olive oil a little at a time until smooth.
Wishing you a wonderful summer
Love Something Different.
